It is rare in this world that you can fall in love multiple times in the space of five minutes. That is what happened to me on our recent photo shoot with the electrifying and super sexy Trash Fashion. If you have not already heard of them they are possibly the coolest band to grace the anti-genre of nu rave. They are also darlings of the delicious brochure of Day-Glo optimism that is SUPER SUPER magazine.
There is something about a man in leggings and eyeliner... If I were in charge of the world I would make it the law that all men had to dress in this manner. Appearances aside these guys rock and I mean ROCK! It has been a long time since I saw a really supercharged charismatic band. I read somewhere recently in the musings of a rather jaded rock music writer that rock & roll had died. Well Trash fashion are busy bringing it back to life with high voltage heart paddles and rave horns.
Unfortunately for the rather hammered Newcastle crowd their rock/rave wonder proved a little too much. Their performance made me think of that part in 'Back to the Future' where Marty Mcfly goes off on one with a genius guitar solo and proclaims, 'sorry you guys aren't ready for that yet' to his shocked and bemused 1950's audience.
Despite a bunch of idiotic townie girls trying to sabotage their performance at every turn and a wrecked new raver attacking them with silly string, they played like pros wowing the more receptive audience members with screaming witty vocals and dirty guitar riffs accompanied by 90's rave keyboards. They won a fair few converts that night. I was smitten and am hatching a plan to kidnap them and make them my personal band (creepy Stephen King 'Misery' style).
Anyway back to the shoot, I made the guys giant personalised nametag necklaces and personalised leggings. I also covered them in bags. Gemma our cool journo blog contributor styled them and Hatty our intern got dragged into the men’s loos to plait Jet's hair. Herod (AKA Gerry) and Sheriff, like the pros that they are, took some awesome photos. Gerry is responsible for some of the other photos on the site, soon to be appearing in Disorder magazine.

I think the kidnapping could work as you could fit the entire band in to one of those huuuuuuge boombox shoppers. You could make them play songs in there, and pretend your bag was a real boom box. Although this whole plan could end up going too far, and you could end up going to jail...
